Although there may be little obstacles in this election, the value of the election will not be lowered due to some obstacles and dissatisfaction, wrote Aung San Suu Kyi, Chairperson of National League for Democracy (NLD) in her “Chair NLD” Facebook page on November 5.

“There may be some obstacles and some will not be satisfied with the election matters. But it will not lower the value of the election. If most of us do our job fairly and squarely to have a reflection of people, it will be a successful election,” she said.

Nature of the election might have difficulties and in some big countries with democracy, there may be some problems related to election matters. The important thing is to deal with the problem peacefully in line with law, she said.

The Union Election Commission (UEC) is known about the weaknesses in the advanced voting process as people pointed out them and the UEC will try as best as it can to reduce the errors on election day. The government is providing assistance to it in line with law, she said.

The UEC arranged for the voting in line with the advice of the Ministry of Health and Sports due to COVID-19 pandemic and the voters can vote confidently, she said.

“Don’t forget to cast your vote and we are trying to make it convenient for them,” she said.

She urged people to be alert on election day and if there will be some issues which can disturb the voting, the voters can inform the authorities of the polling station.

“The voters can cast their votes with great satisfaction. They will be satisfied as they are included to create the fate of the country. If so, we can recognize that the election is a success,” she said.

Although the country doesn’t have democracy fully, people can show it on election day and the time the election result is announced.

Election campaign period, which started from September 8, will end at midnight on November 6 and the supporters need to stop the use of NLD logos and symbols. She thanked the supporters who showed their support to the NLD amidst COVID-19 pandemic period, she said.
