Cities in Myanmar drop off list of world's 15 hottest cities

According to the latest report from Eldorado Weather, Myanmar's cities have dropped off the list of the 15 hottest cities globally. Released on May 4, the updated ranking no longer features several cities from Myanmar that had previously held top positions.

The current top cities hail from India, Oman (representing Asia), Chad, Niger (for Africa), and Algeria. In April, Chauk in the Magway Region of Myanmar had consistently ranked among the top three hottest cities worldwide.

As of April 30, three cities from Myanmar were among the 15 hottest cities globally, with Chauk securing the second position with a scorching temperature of 46 degrees Celsius. According to the list published at 3:00 pm on April 30, Chauk, situated in the Magway Region, claimed the second spot, while Magway and Mandalay also made the cut.

Magway clinched the 11th position with a temperature of 44.8 degrees Celsius, whereas Mandalay followed closely behind at 14th place with 44.5 degrees Celsius. Chauk's presence on the list further solidified its status as one of the 15 hottest cities worldwide for the month of April.

According to the April 29 report from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH), several cities in Myanmar witnessed unusually high daytime temperatures on April 28. Among them, Chauk stood out with a remarkable daily temperature of 48.2 degrees Celsius.

The report detailed other cities experiencing extraordinary heat, including Magway at 46.1 degrees Celsius, Myingyan and Nyaung-U at 46 degrees Celsius each, and Myinmu in Sagaing at 45.6 degrees Celsius. Tada Oo (Aviation Meteorology) and Minbu recorded temperatures of 45.5 degrees Celsius each, while Aunglan and Taungdwinggyi experienced 45.3 degrees Celsius and 45 degrees Celsius, respectively, as reported by the DMH.

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (MDH) revealed that during the third week of April, the central regions of Myanmar experienced daytime temperatures surpassing the April average by 1.5 degrees Celsius. By the end of the month, the lower Sagaing region and Mandalay region saw maximum temperatures soaring up to 8 degrees Fahrenheit above the monthly average.

Additionally, April witnessed a remarkable occurrence as seven cities shattered temperature records. Notably, Chauk and Nyaung-U consecutively set new temperature records within the span of a month.
