Myanmar Discusses Mutually Beneficial Cooperation with China in Implementing Belt and Road Initiative Projects

Myanmar discussed ways to ensure mutually beneficial cooperation with China in implementing projects under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), according to official reports.

The discussions took place during the first coordination meeting of the Working Committee for the Implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), held on June 30 at the Thiri Yadana Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting was opened by U Ko Ko Kyaw, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Working Committee for the Implementation of the BRI.

Committee members reviewed the progress of projects being implemented under the BRI framework and discussed measures to actively participate in BRI-related projects to promote Myanmar's national interests. They also deliberated on continuing the implementation of ongoing projects, strengthening inter-ministerial coordination to support the Steering Committee for BRI implementation, and ensuring that BRI projects are carried out through mutually beneficial cooperation between Myanmar and China.

The meeting was attended by members of the Working Committee for BRI implementation representing 23 ministries, the Office of the Auditor General of the Union, and the Nay Pyi Taw Council, according to the report.
