The Myanmar Passport Issuing Board office in Mawlamyine has introduced an online booking system for passport applications, effective since May 1.

According to a source familiar with the operations of the Mawlamyine Passport Office, this new system aims to streamline the application process and enhance efficiency.

"With the online booking system, applicants can schedule appointments in advance, eliminating the need for lengthy waits at the office. This not only saves time but also reduces associated costs," the source explained.

To utilize the online booking system, applicants are required to provide their ID cards and household lists. Applications can be submitted through the official website www.passport.gov.mm. Additionally, individuals facing internet connectivity issues can seek assistance from others to register on their behalf.

A resident of Mawlamyine expressed appreciation for the transition to the online booking system for passport applications, highlighting its significant convenience factor.

"In the past, obtaining a passport meant enduring long waits at the office, sometimes requiring multiple visits. However, with the introduction of the online booking system, the process has become much more manageable," the resident commented. "Although, it's worth noting that booking slots are currently fully booked until November."

Under the new system, applicants register online and then visit the office according to their scheduled appointment to proceed with the passport application process.

Likewise, the Myanmar Passport Issuing Board office in Hpa-an, Kayin State, has also adopted the online booking system since May 1, aiming to streamline passport application procedures.
