Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation (YESC) announced that power generation is decreasing by 55 MW due to the repair of Zawtika natural gas pipeline.

YESC announced that the maintenance and repair work of the Zawtika natural gas pipeline, which is being sent to natural gas power plants in Yangon Region, will be carried out for two days from May 15 to 16 near Bilin town.

During the emergency maintenance and repair of the natural gas pipeline, the power generation capacity of 55 MW from the power generators running using Zawtika natural gas in the power system in Yangon Region will decrease, according to the YESC.

For the reduced power generation and transmission, Ahlon power plant is supplying about 22 MW of electricity during the day time using natural gas from Yadana natural gas pipeline and Thilawa generator and Thaketa generator are supplying about 50 MW of electricity during night time using diesel. Efforts will be made to meet the power demand as much as possible, YESC has announced.
