Myanmar's national security adviser engages in high-level security talks with global partners in Russia

National Security Adviser and Union Minister, General Moe Aung, convened with national security representatives from several countries, including Russia, China, India, and Bangladesh, during their visit to Russia.

The discussions centered around counter-terrorism strategies and enhancing security cooperation.

The Myanmar delegation, led by General Moe Aung, engaged in these discussions at the 12th meeting of high-ranking officials on security matters in St. Petersburg from April 23 to 25.

During the visit, General Moe Aung held bilateral talks with Mr. Nikolay Patrushev, Secretary of the National Security Council of Russia, focusing on the broad spectrum of cooperation between Myanmar and Russia, spanning various fields such as technical collaboration, anti-terrorism measures, and the implementation of the five-point roadmap by the State Administration Council (SAC).

Furthermore, General Moe Aung separately met with key figures including Mr. Chen Wenging from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Mr. Ajit Doval, National Security Adviser of India, Mr. Tarique Ahmed Siddque, National Security Adviser of Bangladesh, and Mr. Somvanh Saylongpha, Deputy Minister of Public Security of Laos People’s Democratic Republic. The discussions revolved around border security, counter-terrorism efforts, bilateral cooperation, regional security concerns like those within the BIMSTEP framework, and the mutual exchange of security intelligence.

Additionally, General Moe Aung engaged in dialogues with Mr. Abdulaziz Ahmed Adem, head of security of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and Mr. Pascoal RONDA, Minister of Interior of the Republic of Mozambique.

As part of the visit, the delegation, under General Moe Aung's leadership, explored military technology exhibitions hosted by various companies during the Expo-forum.

On April 26, the Myanmar delegation also met with Mr. Grigoriev Evgeny Dmitrievich, chairman of the St. Petersburg Foreign Relations Committee, to foster discussions on bilateral friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
