The National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) and the seven ethnic armed organizations that are signatories to the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) held a two-day meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on July 20–21 to review the peace process.
The meeting brought together NSPNC officials and representatives from the seven NCA signatory groups, including the RCSS, KNU/KNLA Peace Council, NMSP, DKBA, LDU and ALP.
NSPNC Chairman Lt-Gen Yar Pyae outlined ongoing peace initiatives, plans to engage both NCA signatories and groups that have withdrawn from the agreement, efforts to promote regional stability and development, and possible amendments to the 2008 Constitution.
RCSS Secretary-1 Sao Sai Ngin said the meeting reflected progress in the committee’s peace efforts during the new government’s first 100 days and expressed hope that broader participation and open dialogue would help achieve lasting peace.
Participants also discussed strengthening an inclusive NCA-based peace process, building confidence among stakeholders, expanding dialogue, improving communication mechanisms, promoting development in conflict-affected areas, securing international support, and selecting suitable venues for future peace talks. The second day focused on exchanging views on advancing the peace process.
