Myanmar is expected to begin offering 5G services in the near future, Deputy Minister U Thet Win Aung for Digital Development and Communications said.

He made the remarks during a meeting with representatives of mobile telecommunications operators and internet service providers at the Hanthawaddy Office in Sanchaung Township, Yangon Region, on September 20.

The deputy minister also urged continued cooperation in the ongoing effort to systematically clear tangled telecommunications cables across Yangon.

Following the meeting, he inspected data centre operations at MyTel’s office.

He also visited a satellite communications ground station in Pyin Taung Kyaung Village, Thanlyin Township, and inspected the operations of international maritime radio stations.

At the Communications Training School in Pazundaung Township, he reviewed annual training programmes aimed at enhancing the professional skills of Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications employees, practical training equipment and the use of digital online technologies in instruction.

He later inspected the central equipment storage facility of Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications in Botataung Township, stressing the systematic storage, distribution and utilization of equipment in accordance with established procedures.
