Some EAOs have pointed out that peace process has derailed. Ways must be sought to overcome challenges to peace process, said General Saw Mutu Say Poe, Chairman of Karen National Union (KNU).

The move came from the fourth top leaders’ conference of NCA signatories held in Chiang Mai, Thailand starting from May 14.

“Our assessment of peace process is that peace process deviates from its real route.  Our common understanding and stance is to seek ways to overcome challenges and remove obstacles to peace process,” said General Saw Mutu Say Poe.

We should work together for peace process. It is of importance to seek a way to support our destination. Today’s meeting is strategic. We should consider strong strategic cooperation based on functional trust upholding common interest and expectation, said General Saw Mutu Say Poe.

The Peace Process Steering Team (PPST) is holding the fourth top leaders’ conference of NCA signatories in Chiang Mai, Thailand from May 14 to 19.
