Over the past decade, Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council, revealed staggering statistics: around 18,000 fires have ravaged Myanmar, resulting in losses exceeding 187 billion kyats, with an annual loss surpassing 18 billion kyats.

Speaking at the commemoration of the 78th Anniversary of Myanmar Fire Brigade Day in Nay Pyi Taw on May 5, Vice-Senior General Soe Win highlighted the significant role of the fire brigade in the nation's safety. He noted that the first voluntary firefighter conference convened on May 5, marking the inception of Myanmar Fire Brigade Day 78 years ago. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Fire Brigade focuses on four key objectives: fire prevention, disaster preparedness, search and rescue operations, and public welfare initiatives. Strategic management, implementation, and review of these objectives are deemed essential.

Addressing the persistent challenge of fire outbreaks, Vice-Senior General Soe Win emphasized the necessity of public awareness campaigns to mitigate the annual toll. With approximately 1,800 fire outbreaks occurring yearly, causing over 18 billion kyats in damage, proactive measures are crucial amid global climate change and technological advancements.

Furthermore, Vice-Senior General Soe Win underscored the Fire Brigade's commitment to disseminating vital information through live broadcasts of fire incidents and rescue operations, along with updates on the Department of Fire Services website. He urged the public to collaborate closely with the brigade to prevent fire hazards.

The ceremony drew attendance from members of the State Administration Council, union ministers, government officials, and senior military personnel, highlighting the collective effort to address fire safety challenges nationwide.
