There are fewer people visiting the Myeik Archipelago and more people visiting the islands in Kawthoung for Thingyan period, according to travel service providers.

For Thingyan trip and trip for the first week of April, local travellers are more interested in trips in Kawthoung Township than trips to Kyunsu Township in Tanintharyi Region.

It is reported that there are very few people taking bookings for island tours in Kyunsu Township, while hotel bookings and island tour bookings for island tours in Kawthoung Township are full.

"There are still no people who have booked tickets to visit the islands in the Kyunsu Township. There are only a dozen people who have booked for the Thingyan period. It can be said that Myeik Archipelago tourism is in a state of zero. As for us, we are prepared to provide services. The current situation is that people who come on business only visit the island for a short time. There is no such thing as a private leisure trip. At the current price of fuel, if the number of visitors is less than 10, we can only send a speedboat charter. The cost is 1.1 million kyats for a trip to four islands and 2.3 million kyats for Bailey star turtle tour," said an official from the Myeik District Tourism Entrepreneurs Association.

Tourists are more interested in trips in Kawthoung Township this year, and hotels are full of people who have booked.

"I heard that many people will visit Kawthoung this year. It is because of the peacefulness of the area and private islands are provided with good service. Rather than making a profit, we work to increase interest in the islands among travellers. Flight tickets are purchased in advance by travel service providers, and they provided round trip flights and island tours for passengers. Overnight trips to Nyaung U Phi and Khring Khwa islands cost about 2.5 million kyats per person, but there are many people who will visit," said a person who provides tourism services.

As for the travel service companies, if a person want to visit the islands in the Kyunsu Township from Yangon as a Thingyan period service, a two-night trip will cost 1.5 million kyats per person (including hotel, round-trip ticket, and all meals). If going to the islands via Myeik town, as a private tour for ten people, an overnight trip to Bailey Island and Star Turtle Island will cost five million kyat. Businessmen said that there were more than 40 companies providing tourism services in Myeik Archipelago, but now there are not even ten companies left because they are facing difficulties.
