A 100-household administrator was shot dead at his home in Patheingyi Township, Mandalay Region, on June 19, local sources said.

U Than Swe, aged 62, was shot by three unidentified men arriving on a motorbike while he was at his home together with his family in Seinle Kantha Village, Hsingyi Village-tract, Patheingyi Township, yesterday evening.

The gunmen shot him after asking his wife and brother-in-law who the 100-household administrator was.

U Than Swe died at the scene after being shot eight times. He was a village administrative body member as well as an organizer of the Union Solidarity and Development Party.
