The State Administration Council's information team revealed the seizure of one million stimulant pills, valued at approximately one billion kyats, on the cargo ship MV-Sein Pyae Min. The ship was docked at No.2 Jetty at Bayintnaung Port in Yangon Region's Mayangon Township. Authorities allege the drugs were being transported at the behest of Arkan Army (AA) logistical units.

On the evening of March 21, authorities received a tip that Than Zin Oo, a logistics officer for the AA group in Sittwe Township, planned to meet with May Yu Tun, another logistics officer in Buthidaung Township. Their alleged purpose was to transport illegal drugs to both Sittwe and Buthidaung via Yangon. Acting on this information, security forces raided a house located at No. 3-1, Industry (5) Street, Myittanyunt Ward, Tamwe Township. During the raid, they apprehended accomplices Tun Thein Aung and his wife, Su Myat Wai.

Following the arrests on March 21, authorities conducted a search of the cargo ship MV-Sein Pyae Min, which operates the Yangon-Sittwe route. The vessel was docked at berth number two in Bayintnaung Port. The search yielded one million stimulant pills marked "WY," with an estimated current street value of one billion kyats, according to the State Administration Council.

Su Myat Wai claims that on March 14th, Thant Zin Oo, her cousin-in-law residing in Sittwe's Baukthizu Ward, offered her 20 million kyats to transport illegal drugs from Yangon. After discussing it with her husband, she agreed. On March 20th, Thant Zin Oo's son, Kyaw Paing Thu, delivered the drugs. They then concealed them by mixing them with Godzilla soap bars in cardboard boxes before sending them to Rakhine State. To reach Sittwe, the packages were reportedly loaded onto the cargo ship at Bayintnaung Port.

The SAC information team alleges the Arkan Army (AA) group is involved in drug trafficking to fund its activities and acquire weapons and ammunition. Since 2016, authorities have reportedly seized drugs linked to the AA group on nine occasions. The total value of the confiscated drugs is estimated at 294.82 billion kyats.

The SAC has vowed to take decisive legal action against those arrested and pursue the apprehension of remaining accomplices, including Thant Zin Oo and Kyaw Paing Thu.
