Man apprehended after escaping with two others from the Mu Pon Township police station jail in Mawlamyine

One of the three individuals who escaped from Mu Pon police station in Mawlamyine has been apprehended. 

Reports from sources close to the security forces indicate that on the morning of April 19, one of the escapees was captured.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of April 17 when three prisoners in custody at Mu Pon police station broke through the cell's roof, seized a gun from the on-duty policeman, shot him, and fled. According to security sources, police sergeant Tun Shin lost his life due to the gunfire from the inmates, who also managed to escape with an M-16 gun.

The recaptured escapee, identified as 20-year-old Nay Soe San, was found near the Mawlamyine-Mudon highway in Kyaikrai Village, Mudon Township on April 19. Nay Soe San, who was initially arrested for involvement in a drug case and robbery, is currently detained at Mawlamyine Police Station for further investigation.

Efforts are underway by security forces to locate and apprehend the two remaining escapees, and a search operation is ongoing.
