Several posters discouraging voting for the National League for Democracy's (NLD) candidate for the regional parliament U Aung Win were found posted near the NLD office in Dawei town, Tanintharyi Region.

The fence near the polling station no.5 at the Kayinpyin North Ward, the traffic light post, a signboard and the fence of the property belonging to the ex-chief minsiter Dr Le Le Maw were places where such posters were put up. Authorities have taken them down and are looking into the culprit behind this.

They suspect that the posters were put up early this morning (November 8).

The posters claime that voting for U Aung Win is useless because he could not produce any results from 2015 until 2020, discouraging votes against the candidate on top of posters that show submissions and questions from the current-Amyotha Hluttaw MP U Aung Win, put together and published by the Dawei-based Dakhina Online Media, during his term.

The posters also come with a picture of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi with writings that say allowing a government that failed in its duty into office again means the failure of the people.

U Aung Win is currently an MP after winning the 2015 election where he ran for the Amyotha Hluttaw candidate for the NLD, representing Dawei Township Constituency (1).

He has been under fire by the locals for not being able to ask any "star" (key issue) questions.

There are around 70,000 voters within Dawei Township Regional Parliament Constituency (1) and seven parties are contesting for a seat including the Union Solidarity and Development Party, the NLD and the Dawei Nationalities Party.
