Military chief receives Chinese Special Envoy

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services, met with Sun Guoxiang, Special Envoy of Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, in Nay Pyi Taw on February 28 to discuss the military’s ceasefire agreement process in 2020, according to the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services.

At the meeting, they exchanged views on regarding visits of the Special Envoy of Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China to Buthidaung and Maungdaw region of northern Rakhine State and his observation over the tasks done in Myanmar to re-accept Bengalis, support of China towards Myanmar Government and the Tatmadaw in the international community including the United Nations, unstable situations within Rakhine State without peace being jointly committed by ARSA terrorists and AA insurgents at Myanmar-Bangladesh border, endeavours by the Tatmadaw for achieving eternal peace in the whole nation in 2020, support and assistance of China to such endeavours, and cooperation of two countries in ensuring peace and stability in northern region of Myanmar and border regions.

Lt-Gen Than Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Soe Htut and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Hong Liang and officials attended the meeting.
