HPA-AN-----After a group of people had robbed a CB bank branch-2 in Hpa-an Township, Kayin State, yesterday evening, three bank robbers were arrested with over 120 million kyats and weapons, according to the announcement of State Administration Council (SAC).
The SAC reported that a vehicle driven by Thiha who is one of the PDF’s members together with four men arrived at the CB bank branch-2 on Yaykyaw road in Ward No.9 in Hpa-an Township. Later, they came to the bank and robbed over 120 million Kyats after threatening the bank staffs with the guns.
The SAC’s announcement also said that the bank robbers run away along Hpa-an-Myainggyingu road by car. The security force ordered a vehicle carrying bank robbers to stop it for security reason. But, the vehicle didn’t stop. So, the security members opened fire on the vehicle. While opening the fire on the vehicle, it fell down into the creek. The shooting between security force and PDF members took place at the place. Driver Thiha died during the shooting and two men were arrested with a pistol, five bullets, two magazines and over 120 million kyats. Other two PDF members were at large.
According to the confession of detainees, Maung Maung Oo, 26-aged, living in No.77 on Thanlwing road, Ahlon Township, Yangon Region, joined with a girl namely Ma Hnin via Social Media page. Later, he arrived at the Shan Ywar Thit village in Hlaingbwe Township, Kayin State, in three months ago and stayed at the village together with CDM activists and then he attended the terrorist trainings. While staying at the village, Thiha who died during the shooting joined to him [Maung Maung Oo]. Thiha told Maung Maung Oo to do the work. So, four men including Thiha took him [Maung Maung Oo] by Honda Odessy. Later, they arrived in Hpa-an Township around 3pm of June 3rd and robbed the CB bank branch.
Other detainee Kyaw Kyaw, 21-aged, lived in staff quarter in 105th Street in Chanmyathasi Township, Mandalay Region, whose job is singing at the restaurants. In February of 2022, he[Kyaw Kyaw] was friendly with CDM teacher Ma Su. Later, Kyaw Kyaw attended the terrorist trainings in connection with Ma Su. Moreover, Kyaw Kyaw participated in the bank robbery as the connection of his old friend Htet Myat living in Hpa-an Township. The remaining Ko Kyet and Ko Kalar who are still at large after taking part in the bank robbery already lived in Shan Ywa Thit village and they are PDF members.
