Thai authorities apprehend 85 Myanmar nationals for illegal entry in just one week

Myanmar migrant workers who are illegally crossing the Thailand border via the Phaya Thonezu-Kanchanaburi road are being arrested nearly every day, resulting in the detention of 85 individuals within a week, according to sources.

Thai authorities conducted a significant operation on March 19, around 1 am, near Chale Village in Kanchanaburi District, apprehending 21 illegal Myanmar workers and two individuals responsible for leading them into Thailand.

These arrested Myanmar nationals are slated to be transferred to the Sankhala Buri Police Station for further legal proceedings, it is reported.

Additionally, on March 15, another 29 Myanmar nationals lacking proper documentation were arrested near Bang Kung On Estate in Kanchanaburi District, comprising 20 men and 9 women. 

This surge in arrests continued with a total of 35 illegal Myanmar migrant workers apprehended on March 12 and 13.

Specifically, Thai authorities seized 17 male and 5 female Myanmar migrant workers in a vehicle in Kanchanaburi District on March 13 at around 8 am. Reports indicate that these workers had to pay brokerage fees ranging from 13,000 to 15,000 baht.

Furthermore, at around 10 am on March 12 , 13 Myanmar workers who illegally crossed the border were arrested, with legal actions pending against them.
