The Myanmar military has regained control of Infantry Battalion 275, which serves as the town guard in Myawady, Kayin State.

On April 11, a combined force of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), Karen National Defence Organization (KNDO), and People's Defence Forces (PDFs) launched an attack and seized control of the battalion.

However, instead of surrendering or being captured, the battalion's troops retreated towards the Thailand-Myanmar border No. 2 friendship bridge. From April 19 night onwards, the joint KNLA, KNDO, and PDF forces attacked the battalion with drop bombs near the bridge, sparking heavy fighting. The military responded with airstrikes.

The clashes caused a surge in refugees fleeing Myawady to Mae Sot, Thailand. Around 3,000 people had crossed the border by April 21. Fortunately, as the fighting subsided on the same day, many refugees began returning home. Thai authorities reported a significant decrease in refugee numbers, with only about 1,000 remaining on the Thai side by April 22.

There were civilian casualties during the clashes in Myawady. Additionally, reports suggest cooperation between the Myanmar military and the Karen Border Guard Force (BGF) during the battles to secure Myawady and retake Infantry Battalion 257.
