A woman staged a solo protest against the chief minister and four members of parliament in front of the office of the Bago Region government on August 20, accusing them of alleged corruption.

"I borrowed K10 million with 5 percent interest rate from Daw Khin May Win by pawning my land. Monthly, I paid for interest. In the agreement, she mentioned K25 million. This fake agreement was signed by ward administrator U Sit Naung. I have to face a lawsuit. So, I filed a complaint to the chief minister in 2017. But I received no remark. When investigation was conducted, authorities learned that U Sit Naung cheated. He was removed from the post on February 18, 2019. Two members of Region Parliament, one member of the Lower House and one member of Upper House give their remarks that it was just a normal mistake for him. U Sit Naung was re-appointed on June 20, 2019. There is corruption behind the case. I have protection for the truth. I have to suffer many losses," said Thinzar Maung Maung.

MP Nyunt Shwe for Bago Township Constituency No (1), said: "This case is concerned with the court. We have nothing to do with it. She could protest as she wished. She used to report to us. We could not intervene with the court decision. The ward administrator was not chosen by us. He was re-appointed because he is liked by the people."

Regarding the case, Thinzar Maung Maung has staged a series of protests but no settlement has reached and she is facing a court trial.
