Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs meets NRPC chairman

Mr Sun Guoxing, the Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with Chairman of the Peace Commission Dr. Tin Myo Win at the National Reconciliation and Peace Center (NRPC) in Nay Pyi Taw on November 8 according to NRPC.

They exchanged views on Myanmar’s ongoing peace process. Later, Mr. Sun Guoxing presented US $ 300,000 donated by the Chinese government to Dr. Tin Myo Win.

Present on the occasion were vice-chairman of Peace Commission Thein Zaw and officials from both sides.

Union Minister Kyaw Tin, Minister for International Cooperation also met Mr. Sun Guoxing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw. They discussed matters regarding China’s assistances in Myanmar’s peace process, relocation of those that had fled Myanmar in Rakhine State, and implementation being carried by Myanmar according to Rakhine State advisory commission’ suggestions.

Mr. Sun Guoxing was assigned to be a mediator in meetings between ethnic armed forces in northern Myanmar and the government.

At present, Minister for International Relations of China’s Communist Party Mr. Song Tao is also visiting Myanmar. He met State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, Mandalay Region Chief Minister Dr. Zaw Myint Maung and Chairman of Peace Commission Dr. Tin Myo Win on November 6 at the State Counselor’s residence.

Commander-in-Chief Senior-General Min Aung Hlaing also met with Mr. Song Tao on November 7 at the Shwe San Eain Hotel discussed promotion of bilateral relations.
