In Thaketa Township, a collision involving two racing vehicles resulted in the tragic death of one person and injuries to three others, including garbage collectors and a roadside betel-selling vendor. The incident occurred near Kyauktai stop on Ayarwon Road around 11:00 am on June 19.

According to reports, a pick-up truck and a brick-and-stone truck were racing side by side when they collided with a parked betel-selling vehicle and the nearby garbage collectors. The collision caused significant damage and resulted in casualties among those present.

"The two vehicles were racing alongside each other. I'm not sure why they hit our vehicle. Some say their brakes failed. The garbage collectors' cart was in front of our shop at that time the incident occurred.  The vehicles hit them and then struck us. An elderly lady who was pushing the cart lost her life. Two others were injured and taken to the hospital. I sustained minor injuries to my leg," explained the betel nut seller who was involved.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
