According to official sources, the Tatmadaw regained control of Khampat, a strategic border trade and transportation hub on the Kalay–Tamu route linking Myanmar and India, on June 20.

The military said it has been conducting phased security operations to restore control over the Kalay–Tamu Road. On June 7, troops advancing from Kalay recaptured the villages of Ashae Khone Thar, 56 Mile, and 55 Mile, while forces advancing from Tamu took control of Nan Moutta, Yan Lin Paing, and a nearby insurgent camp close to the Myanmar–India border. On June 13, the military announced it had regained Razagyo Village and the Razagyo Reservoir Dam. This was followed by the recapture of Yan Myo Aung Village on June 15, Sawbwa Rayshin Village on June 16, and Kyuntaw Rayshin Village on June 17.

The military said its columns advancing from Kalay captured Khun Naing and Nan Khao Khao villages on June 19 before taking Nan Ka Teik Village and Khampat Town on June 20. According to the statement, insurgent forces withdrew to areas north of the town, where clearance and security operations are continuing.

Khampat, a sub-township of Tamu Township in Sagaing Region near the Indian border, is a key crossing point for Myanmar–India border trade along the Kalay–Tamu route. According to the military, People's Defence Force (PDF) groups seized the town on November 3, 2023, and used it as a military base, disrupting cross-border trade and the movement of goods between the two countries.

The military said it will continue clearing unexploded ordnance and landmines, repairing roads and bridges, and restoring infrastructure in Khampat and other recaptured towns and villages to facilitate the return of displaced residents. Efforts are also underway to reopen the Kalay–Tamu Road as soon as possible.

The statement added that counter-insurgency operations will continue until the entire Kalay–Tamu route is brought under full government control.
