Consumer goods and construction materials are continuing to be transported to support rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in Chin State, according to reports.
Following the military's full restoration of control over the towns of Falam, Tedim, and Tonzang in Chin State, rehabilitation and recovery operations are being accelerated to address damage sustained in the area.
A Chin State Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Committee, chaired by Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Than Soe, has been established to oversee the recovery process. The committee includes officials responsible for various sectors and is working to implement reconstruction projects as quickly as possible.
Committee members and relevant authorities have been conducting field visits to the affected areas and are actively carrying out rehabilitation and reconstruction activities on the ground, reports said.
The National Disaster Management Committee (NDMC) has been providing food assistance to the people, staff and families returning to Falam, Tedim and Tonzang in Chin State, as an initial arrangement to ensure that they do not face any food shortages. It is sending 10 tons of edible oil and 50 tons of rice, cement, zinc and iron nails required for rehabilitation work by Tatmadaw aircraft. On June 9, Tatmadaw aircraft transported (10) tons of zinc, 5.5 tons of cement, 123 visses of iron nails, and one sheet of rubber washer from Mandalay to Kalay. It is continuously working to continue distributing the aid to the relevant townships and to meet the needs of the region.
