DMH predicts scattered rainfalls for parts of Myanmar over next two days

Rain or thundershowers will be scattered to fairly widespread in Nay Pyi Taw, upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Tanintharyi regions, Kachin, Shan, Chin, Kayah, Kayin and Mon states in the next two days, according to the forecast of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) on May 7.

According to the forecast, weather is a few cloud over the North Andaman Sea and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal, and rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in upper Sagaing Region and Kachin, Southern Shan, Chin states, scattered Nay Pyi Taw, lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Tanintharyi regions and (northern and eastern) Shan, Rakhine, Kayah states and isolated in the remaining regions and states. Degree of certainty is 80%.

The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Taninthayi regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon states. The area along the cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

Sea will be moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 5-7 feet in off and along Myanmar Coasts. In the next two days, rain or thundershowers will be scattered to farily widespread in Nay Pyi Taw, upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Tanintharyi regions and Kachin, Kachin, Shan, Chin, Kayah, Kayin, Mon states.

During the past 24 hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in upper Sagaing Region and Chin State, scattered in Kachin, Rakhine states and isolated in Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Taninthayi regions and northern Shan, Mon states. Weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining regions and states.

Day temperatures were 3°C to 4°C above May average temperatures in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady, Taninthayi regions and (southern and eastern) Shan, Kayah, Kayin, Mon states and 2°C above May average temperatures in northern Shan, Rakhine states, 4°C below May average temperature in upper Sagaing Region and 5°C below May average temperature in Kachin State and about May average temperatures in the remaining regions and states.

The significant day temperatures were observed 42.5°C in Zaung Tu, 42.0°C each in Pyay and Shwekyin, 41.9°C in Aunglan, 41.6°C each in Bago and Myawady, 41.1°C in Magway, 41.0°C each in Nyaunglaybin and Ngathaichaug and 40.7°C in Toungoo (Aviation-Met).

The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 0.43 inch in Gangaw, 0.39 inch each in Hakha and Tiddim, 0.24 inch each in Putao, Machanbaw and Tongzan, 0.20 inch in Sittway, 0.16 inch in Mawlaik and 0.10 inch in Htilin.
