A cargo ship caught fire near Koh Tao Island in Thailand, and a Myanmar national on board is missing, sources said.

According to Thai news reports, a cargo ship caught fire in the sea near Koh Tao Island in Surat Thani province, southern Thailand on April 4.

Some Myanmar nationals were on board the ship that caught fire, and one is reported to be missing.

The ship was carrying passengers and cargos from Surat Thani province to Koh Tao Island. After the ship departed, the fire broke out due to a malfunction in its engine.

Officials from Thailand arrived at the scene of the fire and provided emergency relief. The Myanmar national who is missing is Ko Nay Myo Aung aka Wetgyi. Another woman is also missing. According to news reports, rescue operations are underway.
