Former President U Thein Sein departs for China to attend Conference on Peaceful Coexistence Anniversary

Former President U Thein Sein today left for China to attend the Conference marking the 70th Anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.

The former president was seen off at the Nay Pyi Taw airport by Union Minister for Defence Admiral Tin Aung San, cabinet members, and Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Chen Hai.

The Chinese Embassy announced that former President U Thein Sein was accompanied by U Thant Kyaw, Chairman of the Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies (MISIS); Chairman of the Myanmar-China Friendship Association U Tin Oo; and Daw Than Than Nu, the daughter of Myanmar’s first Prime Minister U Nu who is also a Chairperson of the U Nu-Daw Mya Yi Foundation.

Additionally, U Thein Sein met with Chinese Ambassador Chen Hai in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday, where they exchanged views on issues related to the Myanmar situation and China-Myanmar cooperation. 

On this occasion, U Thein Sein extended his best wishes for the successful celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, according to the Chinese embassy.
