Over 60 armed conflicts reported in late April

There were 64 armed conflicts across the country, in late April, according to a report released by Myanmar Institute for Peace and Security (MIPS) on May 19.

Between July, 2018 and April, 2019.There is no armed clashes between the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS)/SSA, the Shan State Progressive Party (SSPP) and the The Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) / the Palaung State Liberation Front (PSLF).

According to the township-based conflict monitoring system database, there were 52 armed clashes and 13 improvised explosive device attacks.

The number of armed conflicts in late April declined by more than half, compared with March. There is a decline in the number of armed conflicts between the Tatmadaw and the Arakan Army (AA). But the fights between them remain intense, according to the MIPS.

Armed conflicts were reported in 16 townships in late April, with the highest number in MraukU and Buthidaung Townships in Rakhine State.

Stability is gradually restored in the whole Shan State though there were nine armed conflicts between the Tatmadaw, the KIA and the TNLA in Shan State. In addition, Kachin State sees a sign of security improvement, according to the MIPS.
