NSPNC and seven NCA signatories convene in Nay Pyi Taw for talks

National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) and representatives of the seven ethnic armed groups that have signed the NCA held a meeting at the National Unity and Peacemaking Center in Nay Pyi Taw on March 28.

Union Minister of Border Affairs and NSPNC Chairman Lt. Gen. Tun Tun Naung and members of the coordination committee, Pa-O National Liberation Organization (PNLO) patron U Khun Okka, Arakan Liberation Party (ALP) Chairman Saw Mra Razar Lin, Lahu Democratic Union (LDU) vice Chair Kyar Phu, Saw Kyaw Than Htay from the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA), member of the Central Executive Committee of the KNU/KNLA Peace Council Saw Maung Maung, central executive committee member of the New Mon State Party (NMSP) Nai Aung Mange and central executive committee member of the Shan State Restoration Council (RCSS) Sao Songhan attended.

During the meeting, the NSPNC chairman Lt. Gen. Tun Tun Naung, gave an opening speech and further discussed the peace process related to the NCA, which was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services at the 79th Armed Forces Day ceremony of the Tatmadaw. It is said that he explained about the issues related to stopping armed conflicts, six peace policies of the Tatmadaw and sustainable peace processes.

After that, Arakan Liberation Party (ALP) Chairman Saw Mra Razar Lin, on behalf of the ethnic armed groups who attended, gave a welcome speech and discussed on the continuous development of the peace process and issues of building a union based on democracy and federalism and the preparation and formation issues of the Peace Process Steering Team (PPST).

Then, it is reported that they discussed and negotiated humanitarian aid issues and the conditions under which the "Project to provide necessary assistance for Myanmar's peace process" which will be implemented between the Border Areas and National Races Development Department and the INGO group.

After that, Arakan Liberation Party (ALP) Chairman Saw Mra Razar Lin and NSPNC Chairman Lt. Gen. Tun Tun Naung made closing remarks on behalf of the ethnic armed groups present.
