MRCS steps in, providing aid to about 1,300 displaced residents in Mindat Township

The Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS) has provided food and personal items to about 1,300 people displaced by the war in Chin State's Mindat Township, where martial law has been declared, sources said.

The MRCS provided support to 1,266 people from 283 households in Mindat Township from March 20 to 21.

"This help helped them a lot, even if it was not enough to meet their needs," the MRCS said.

In order to provide effective humanitarian assistance to the people in Mindat Township, Chin State, the MRCS is always working hard in accordance with the principles of the Red Cross, according to the statement.

The MRCS announced that officials from the association's headquarters and local Red Cross volunteers went to help 168 families in Pan Oak Village, Phi Village, Taung Pulu Monastery and Baptist Church in Mindat Township, Chin State, who were affected by various reasons, on March 20.

They provided 139 bags of women's personal items, 138 bags of men's personal items, five bags of baby and maternity hygiene products, 64 emotional support bags for children, 52 bags of infant supplies, 66 packs of baby clothes, 168 mosquito nets, 168 blankets, 107 pieces of tarpaulin, 336 1-litre bottles of edible oil, 168 packets of salt, 168 small packages of dried fish and 168 bags of beans to the IDPs.

In addition, the officials from the headquarters of the association and local Red Cross volunteer workers have continued to provide assistance to 115 families affected by various causes in Baungte Village, Baw (3) village, Myo Oo Monastery, Methodist Church, Siche Temple and the Golden Heart Church in Mindat Township, Chin State, on March 21, announced the MRCS.

They provided 111 bags of women's personal items, 110 bags of men's personal items, 10 baby and maternity hygiene bags, 56 emotional support bags for children, 40 bags of infant supplies, 60 packs of baby clothes, 115 mosquito nets, 115 blankets, 83 pieces of tarpaulin, 230 1-litre bottles of edible oil, 115 packets of salt, 115 small packages of dried fish and 155 bags of beans, the MRCS announced.

In addition, the MRCS announced that it is planning to continue to provide assistance to the places where assistance is needed.
