NRPC and eight NCA-NS EAOs agree on five points

The NRPC and eight NCA-NS EAOs agreed on five points including the one that discussions inclusive of decision makers will be frequently held, the joint statement said.

The NRPC and eight NCA-NS EAOs held a peace talk at the Office of the NRPC in Nay Pyi Taw on March 21.

“Our meeting is a unique one. We, every group, have problems. We frankly discuss these problems today. We issued a joint statement after the discussions. We have got five agreed points,” said Zaw Htay, Director General of the Ministry of State Counsellor Office.

The five agreed points coming from the discussions are—the first is to continue negotiation on the reduction in the armed conflicts taking place across the country; the second is to try to maintain peace and stability across the country; the third is to pay special attention to regional development and socio-economic life of local people by both sides; the fourth is to deal with political problem, the root cause of national reconciliation and eternal peace; and the last is to continue holding frequent discussions inclusive of decide makers from both sides.

The meeting of the NRPC and eight NCA-NS EAOs is the first time in the history of peace talks, said Zaw Htay.

“The frequent meeting our government proposes is once every two months. We are to meet at least once every two months. The key decision makers are wanted at the meeting. The meeting like this will be held. We proposed to hold the meeting once every two months,” said Zaw Htay.

 The NRPC and eight NCA-NS EAOs had frank discussions on future tasks in the peace process and on national quality. They issued a joint statement for the sake of national reconciliation and eternal peace.
