Myanmar State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi met the former Mongolian President, the former Norwegian Prime Minister and the Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator in the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) separately, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw, on May 14, according to the Myanmar State Counsellor Office.

At a meeting with Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator in the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Ms. Ursula Mueller, both sides cordially exchanged views on the UN’s humanitarian assistance programs, the assistance to be provided for the implementation of national strategic plan for the shutdown of IDP camps by the government and the assistances to be provided by the UN for Myanmar’s peace and development tasks.

The meeting was also attended by the Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Win Myat Aye and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Likewise, the Myanmar State Counsellor also met the former Norwegian Prime Minister and President of Oslo Center for Peace, Democracy and Human Rights Mr. Kjell Magne Bondevik and former Mongolian President Mr. Elbegdorj Tsakhia on the same day.

The meeting mainly focused on Myanmar’s democratic reform processes, national reconsolidation, human rights protection and promotion and the Myanmar government’s undertakings for peace, tranquility and development in Rakhine State.
