In a bid to beckon rainfall, Mandalay locals organized a traditional tug-of-war event on the evening of May 8.

The spirited gathering took place in the vicinity of 77th, 35th, and 36th streets, drawing participants eager to invoke precipitation through this time-honored ritual.

Rooted in historical tradition, the tug-of-war ceremony traces its origins back to ancient times. Participants engage in a symbolic contest, marking the rope to be pulled on, a mark is alos made on the ground, as teams compete against each other. Beyond its ceremonial significance, the event also serves as a recreational sporting activity, embodying the community's cultural heritage.
