Over 1,000 youths rally in Puta-O Township demanding justice for child rape and murder

Over 1,000 youths rallied yesterday to demand justice for a child rape case in Puta-O Township, Kachin State.

 One participant noted that the diverse group of protesters totaled around 1,000, with their main demands focusing on justice for the victim and advocating for more effective measures to combat child rape.

The perpetrator, a 24-year-old migrant living in Layin Kwin Ward, was arrested on May 11.

 Many protesters, wearing black headbands, marched through Puta-O town, expressing their sorrow for the young girl who fell victim to rape and murder.

The perpetrator confessed to the crime and was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code at the Puta-O Police Station. Organizers announced that Ma Gwan Rein Dunaw's body would be laid to rest on the evening of May 13, following the conclusion of the protest.

Ma Gwan Rein Dunaw, a 15-year-old Rawang girl from Doattan Ward in Puta-O, went missing on the afternoon of May 10 while going to buy edible oil. She was found dead in the jungle at midnight.
