Yangon targets end-of-June deadline for Kabar Aye Pagoda Road fiber cable clearance

The Yangon Region Government has announced that unsightly and tangled fiber optic cables along Kabar Aye Pagoda Road will be cleared by the end of June.

To coordinate the effort, a meeting on the systematic management of telecommunications infrastructure in Yangon Region and the removal and underground installation of fiber optic cables along Kabar Aye Pagoda Road was held at Conference Room (3) of the Yangon Region Government Office on June 8.

The meeting was attended by Yangon Region Minister for Electricity, Energy, Industry and Transport Dr. Myo Thaw, Yangon Region Government Secretary U Ne Win Aung, vice chairpersons, the secretary, joint secretaries, and members of the Communications Network Expansion Coordination Committee. Representatives from the No. 1 Advanced Signals Battalion, four major telecommunications operators, Eager Company, and internet service providers (ISPs) also participated.

During the meeting, participants discussed measures to ensure the timely and effective removal of telecommunications fiber optic cables along Kabar Aye Pagoda Road. Following the discussions, the minister coordinated the necessary actions and instructed that the work be divided into two teams to accelerate the project and ensure that the clearance of the tangled cables is completed by the end of June.
