Myanmar experiences scorching temperatures with 46 degrees Celsius in Chauk

The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) reports a significant rise in daytime temperatures on April 5. Chauk experienced scorching temperatures reaching 46 degrees Celsius, while Myingyan, Nyaung-U, Tada Oo, Minbu, Magway, Aunglan, and Taungtwingyi recorded highs of 44 degrees Celsius.

Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Kachin State and weather will be generally fair in Nay Pyi Taw, Magway Region and Southern Shan State and partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States.

There has been a marginal rise in daytime temperatures across several regions and states in Myanmar. Nay Pyi Taw, lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago Regions, and Shan State have experienced an increase of 3 to 4 degrees Celsius from the average April temperature. Similarly, Upper Sagaing Region, Bago Region, Chin, and Kayin States have seen a rise of 2 degrees Celsius compared to the April average. Meanwhile, Kachin State has recorded a temperature increase of less than 2 degrees Celsius from the April average, while the remaining states and regions have maintained average temperatures.

Remarkable day temperatures were recorded across various locations in Myanmar. Chauk saw a scorching 46 degrees Celsius, while Myingyan, Nyaung-U, Tada Oo, Minbu, Magway, Aunglan, and Taungtwingyi experienced temperatures reaching 44 degrees Celsius. Similarly, Sagaing, Mandalay, Meikhtila, Sinphyu Kyun, and Pyi registered temperatures of 43 degrees Celsius. In terms of rainfall, Machanbaw received 0.40 inches, while PutaO saw 0.32 inches.

Forecasters predict slight to moderate seas in Myanmar waters, with wave heights expected to range from 4 to 7 feet along the coast. Additionally, there is anticipated to be a slight increase in daytime temperatures over the next two days in Nay Pyi Taw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago Regions, as well as in Shan, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, and Mon States.
