The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) launched an attack on the Shan State Progressive Party/Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA) in Hseni Township, Shan State (North). In response, the SSPP/SSA announced their intention to address the issues through dialogue as much as possible.

The clashes between MNDAA and SSPP/SSA began on March 26 when MNDAA used drones to attack one of SSPP/SSA's camps, leading to ongoing clashes until March 27. Specifically, MNDAA targeted SSPP/SSA columns in the Nant Salat and Sae-u village tracts using drones around 3 pm on March 26. An exchange of fire occurred near Kone Nyaung village in Sae-u village tract shortly after.

On March 27, around 9 am, approximately 200 MNDAA forces attacked a special unit of SSPP/SSA using drones, resulting in skirmishes that lasted from around 11 am to noon, according to SSPP/SSA reports.

Throughout the conflict, SSPP/SSA maintained a defensive position against MNDAA's advances and emphasized their commitment to resolving issues through dialogue unless dialogue proves impossible.

Both SSPP/SSA and MNDAA are members of the Federal Political Negotiation and Consultative Committee (FPNCC) led by the "Wa" armed group. Additionally, Hseni Township, where these clashes occurred, fell under the hand of MNDAA during the 1027 Operation initiated by the three northern alliances on October 27, 2023. At the same time, Hseni remains under martial law imposed by the State Administration Council (SAC).
