Former KBC pastor shot dead in Namti Township

In a shocking turn of events, Sr. Nammye Hkun Jaw Li, a former pastor of the Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC), was fatally shot in his home in Namti Township, Kachin State. 

The incident occurred on March 11, when three unidentified assailants on a motorcycle targeted the pastor.

The attack took place shortly before 2:00 PM on March 11. The victim’s residence also housed a copier shop , which was open at the time.

The gunmen arrived at the house and shot Pastor Hkun Jaw Li. His lifeless body was later transported to his home after a thorough medical examination at the morgue.

The fatal gunshot wounds were inflicted on his head and body.

Local residents expressed fear and shock following the incident. Despite the tragedy, they refrained from accusing any specific organizations.

The pastor and his family were aware of the situation, but the motive behind the attack remains unknown.

Aged 40, Pastor Hkun Jaw Li had served as a pastor within the KBC in Namti Township. Beyond his religious role, he actively engaged in social welfare activities alongside the community-based anti-drug organization, Pat Jasan.
