A fire broke out on April 20 at 5:30 am at the Malikha Lodge Hotel in Putao, Kachin State.

The blaze, which reportedly originated in the kitchen area, significantly damaged three of the hotel's thatched-roof buildings.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported thanks to the swift intervention of security teams from the nearby Mulashidi Bridge and assistance from local residents who helped extinguish the flames.

While the Malikha Lodge Hotel downplayed the incident, stating only the small restaurant, kitchen, and attached bungalow roof were affected, witnesses reported that two large bungalows and one smaller one were entirely destroyed.

The Malikha Lodge Hotel, owned by tycoon U Tay Za, is a well-known establishment in Putao, having hosted former presidents and state leaders. Its distinctive architecture made it a popular destination for visitors to the region.
