The conflict around Thingan Nyinaung has driven over 3,000 individuals to flee the violence, leaving them struggling to find sustenance and shelter. Starting on March 7 near Myawady in Kayin State, approximately 10 miles from military encampments, the clashes prompted this mass exodus, as reported by relief workers.

Among the displaced are over 400 individuals from Thingan Nyinaung Village, seeking refuge at various locations including the Myawady Yaypusan Monastic Education School (Taungpaw school), Lower School, Dhamma Yan Aung Monastery, Mingalar Ywa U Monastery, Sein Yaung Che Monastery, and more. Urgent humanitarian assistance is imperative for these displaced populations.

Tragically, two elderly men lost their lives and 14 others sustained injuries during the incident at Thabarwa Tayar Yeikthar Hospital on March 8. Over 170 elderly individuals from the hospital are now being cared for at BEHS-2 in Ward No. 3.

While BEHS-2 has become a de facto shelter due to the influx of elderly refugees, other makeshift accommodations include nearby monasteries, relatives' homes, and rented houses within the community.

However, finding adequate housing is proving challenging, as evidenced by the testimony of a displaced individual from Pha Chaung village near the Myawady Trade Zone.

Estimates suggest that around 3,000 people have sought refuge in various wards of Myawady. Support for these displaced persons has been limited to local charities and social associations. There's a pressing need to establish a dedicated relief camp, such as in Kyauk Lone Gyi, to better address the needs of these IDPs.

The conflict continues to escalate, with reports of clashes in areas including Thingan Nyinaung, Whaeshan, Maepalae, as well as Phalu and Letkat hill in the same vicinity.
