Vehicles from Gayuna social welfare organization are attacked by armed men while they are going to rescue injured people in northern Shan State on August 20 and the vehicles had to be turned back without carrying injured people, said Thaung Tun, the organization chairman.

“The armed men fired about 30 times to our vehicles and all vehicles in our organization hoisted white flags. We cannot go further and we have contact with the family members of injured people. A bullet wound of an injured person is starting to decay. The patient is likely to saw off his leg as we cannot go there,” he said.

Palaung culture organization asked help to carry two injured people and two dead bodies and the organization went to take them with three ambulances. The vehicles were being attacked between Homone and Hankan villages. No one has injured in the accident, he said.

“We helped people who are in trouble in battles at Muse 105 mile, Nant Kham and Nant Aw. We had met them before and now they attacked us,” he said.

They went to a funeral to help three days ago and an armed group blocked the way. When they asked the permission to go past, they didn’t allow, he said.

The organization is founded in 2008 and they helped locals who were injured in the battles of Muse 105 mile and Nant Kham.

On August 17, Lashio Youths social welfare organization was attacked and its chairman, Tun Myint, was killed and two people were injured in the attack.

A vehicle from Myittharshin social welfare organization (Nantphatkar) was attacked in the same day injuring two people.
