All stakeholders ought to work together in removing difficulties and barriers to national reconciliation, ongoing peace process and establishment of federal democratic Union, said Colonel Sai Ngin, Secretary-2 of the RCSS/SSA.

The move came from the Secretaries’ Informal Meeting of the Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC) at the office of NRPC in Yangon on June 13 and 14.

It was also the remark of the conclusion speech made by Colonel Sai Ngin on behalf of the ethnic armed organisations.

“Let’s work together in overcoming all forms of difficulties we have found on our path to national reconciliation, ongoing peace process and building federal Union. Our secretaries should adhere to responsibility, sense of responsibility, accountability and justice, expecting the interests of the people.

The two-day-long informal meeting produced positive results of national reconciliation, ongoing peace process and building federal Union and ensured a better understanding among dialogue partners. Moreover, the informal meeting could promote trust and friendship, said Colonel Sai Ngin.

The EAOs concentrated on bottlenecks in peace process and future peace process at the informal meeting while the government peace negotiators placed emphasis on proposals of future tasks of peace process. The proposed points presented by the government will be discussed among EAOs, said Colonel Sai Ngin.

We are striving for the best outcome for the peace process. On the other hands, the EAOs have a plan to hold informal meetings with the government peace negotiators as quickly as possible after forming the negotiation team that is to overcome bottlenecks in the peace process. The results coming from the informal meetings will be changed into being formal ones, said Colonel Sai Ngin.

Colonel Sai Ngin suggested that the UPDJC Secretaries’ Informal Meetings should be held from time to time before coming official meetings. Preparations are needed for future tasks.

The government peace negotiators submitted four ways to continue future peace process journey at the informal meeting. These four ways mean NCA implementations, review of NCA implementations, NCA definition and how to combine federal principles, said Sai Kyaw Nyunt, joint secretary-1 of the SNLD.

The government pointed out ways to continue discussing peace before and beyond 2020 and regional development matters in the interim period. The informal meeting also focused on seeking ways for ethnic NCA non-signatories to join the NCA. These facts seem very positive, said Sai Kyaw Nyunt.

We will continue striving for peace the entire country long for despite facing difficulties and bottlenecks, said Sai Kyaw Nyunt.

The recommendations resulted from the informal meeting of UPDJC Secretaries were submitted to respective groups. The respective groups will discuss these recommendations among them.

The next UPDJC Secretaries’ Informal Meeting will be held during July, according to the secretaries.
