Both sides have agreed not to disclose the information discussed in the peace talks held in Kunming City. Border gate management and trade activities will be under the management of the two governments,” said Major General Zaw Min Tun, spokesman for the State Administration Council (SAC).

Regarding the peace talks between the government and the three Northern Alliance groups held in Kunming, China, Major General Zaw Min Tun added the following in response to questions from the media and organizations:

“I am addressing the questions posed by the media and organizations regarding the peace talks held in Kunming, China. There have been rumors circulating about the content of our discussions and agreements, although they have not been specified. Some individuals also speculate on what transpired during these talks. I would like to clarify that these discussions occurred earlier this month. These talks fall into a category where both sides have mutually agreed not to disclose the information discussed, in order to safeguard the ongoing peace negotiations,” Major General Zaw Min Tun emphasized.

He further stated that he would refrain from discussing the specific topics and agreements covered in the peace talks held in Kunming. Instead, he aims to inform the public and the media about the relevant issues amidst the circulating rumors.

Major General Zaw Min Tun emphasized the following points during the peace talks: Myanmar’s territorial border and sovereignty continuing to remain robust, the ongoing process of ceasefire and conflict reduction aiming to stabilize the socio-economic conditions for local communities, both governments jointly managing the stability of the border region, enforcing the rule of law, and overseeing border gate management and trade activities, the Myanmar government being committed to safeguarding the interests of both China and Myanmar, and the two countries’ governments vowing to collaborate to combat drug production, smuggling, and cybercrime that could jeopardize border region stability and security.

Additionally, Major General Zaw Min Tun asserted that Myanmar will not tolerate any activities within its territory that harm the interests of neighboring countries. He expressed gratitude to all parties involved, including the government of the People’s Republic of China, for facilitating the peace talks.
