People Media editor-in-chief U Kyaw Soe Oo was released on March 25, according to his wife.

U Kyaw Soe Oo had been reporting on the news using Telegram accounts under the names "People Media" and his own name. He was reportedly detained on March 20.

News of his detention emerged after a March 18 post on the People Media Telegram channel reported that no Ministry of Home Affairs officials attended police inspector Nay Lin's funeral despite his loyalty to the country. U Kyaw Soe Oo was then reportedly charged under Section 505 of the Penal Code of Myanmar, which targets incitement of harm to national peace and stability.

To secure his release, Myanmar Press Council Chairman U Ohn Maung (Myinmu Maung Naing Moe) acted as a mediator. He contacted the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Ministry of Information, following procedures outlined in the media law.
