Challenges facing Rakhine State and future tasks for socio-economic development highlighted

State Counsellor and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs Aung San Suu Kyi discussed challenges facing Rakhine State and future tasks for improving socio-economic projects with Chairman Dr Surakiart Sathirathai-led Advisory Board for the Committee for Implementation of the Recommendations on Rakhine State at the former’s office in Nay Pyi Taw on July 17.
 
During the meeting, the Chairman of Advisory Board for the Committee for Implementation of the Recommendations on Rakhine State clarified progress of work of the Advisory Board and its work procedures and then they exchanged views on implementations of the recommendations issued following the first and the second field trips of the Advisory Board.
 
Also present at the meeting were Union Minister for the Office of the State Counsellor U Kyaw Tint Swe, Union Minister for the Office of the Union Government U Thaung Tun, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye and Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  
 
Similarly, Mahn Win Khaing Than, Speaker of Upper House, received Dr Surakiart Sathirathai, Chairman of Advisory Board for the Committee for Implementation of the Recommendations on Rakhine State and party at the parliament in Nay Pyi Taw on July 17 and they held frank discussions about the activities of the advisory board and the role of the parliament.
 
Likewise, Dr Win Myat Aye, Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement received Dr Surakiart Sathirathai, Chairman of Advisory Board for the Committee for Implementation of the Recommendations on Rakhine State and party on July 16. They spotlighted progress of implementation of recommendations on Rakhine State and its prevailing conditions, implementations of recommendations submitted by Advisory Board for the Committee for Implementation of the Recommendations on Rakhine State, future tasks after signing MoU with the UNHCR and the UNDP, and cooperation in sustainable development in Rakhine State.
 
Nyi Pu, Chief Minister of Rakhine State, also met with Dr Surakiart Sathirathai, Chairman of Advisory Board for the Committee for Implementation of the Recommendations on Rakhine State and party in Nay Pyi Taw on July 16. 
 
During the meeting, they highlighted tasks of carrying out stability, peace and development in Rakhine State, repatriation process of displaced persons, compatibility and coexistence between two communities, sustainable socio-economic development, closure of IDP camps and issuance of NVCs.
