The 1,517-acre of land located in Hakha Township of Hakha District, Chin State is designated as Yonetaung reserve forest, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation has announced in accord with the Proclamation No. (45/2024) that an area of ​​1,517 acres located in Hakha Township, Hakha District, Chin State, will be designated as "Yonetaung reserve forest" as of June 5, 2024 by exercising the powers granted under sub-section (e), Section 6 of the Forestry Law enacted in 2018.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation is committed to sustainably maintain the main location of Hakha city and preserve and protect the banned pine tree and local species, to prevent the production of illegal forest products, to prevent illegal hunting, to protect against landslides and natural disasters, to balance the climate and preserve and protect the spring waters and reduce the damage to the natural environment to establish the Yonetaung reserve forest.

By designating Yonetaung reserve forest, it will get benefits such as being able to preserve the prohibited trees that grow in the area, such as pine, and new species of local species such as pine tree, cherry tree, rhododendron tree, oak tree, chestnut tree, cinnamomum tree and walnut tree etc. will be preserved as well as natural beauty trees and many kinds of orchid, the habitat of animals such as muntjacs, wild cats and rabbits and the spring water that helps Hakha City to obtain drinking water, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation.
