A fight broke out between Chin armed groups that were attacking military bases in Matupi, Chin State, sources said.

It is reported that there was an attack between the Chin National Front/Chin National Army (CNF/CNA) and the Chin Brotherhood Alliance in Matupi.

Chin armed groups led by the CNF/CNA have been attacking Tatmadaw bases and police stations, as well as forming the Chin State Council under their leadership to run the administration in the state.

Similarly, on the other hand, the Chin Brotherhood Alliance, which was jointly formed by the Zomi Federal Association, Chin National Organization, Chin National Council (Mindat), Mara Territory Committee, Chinland Defence Force (Kanpetlet), and Chinland Defence Force (Matupi) Brigade (1), has been carrying out attacks on Tatmawdaw bases and police stations in Chin State with the cooperation of the Arakan Army (AA).

Regarding the incident, the Chin State Council issued a statement on June 18 that they seized the army bases in Cikha town on May 19, Tonzang Township on May 23, and district office in Matupi Township on May 30. They said that they were preparing to seize No.140 Infantry Regiment and a strategic hill in Matupi Township and on June 17, the AA and joint forces arrested one of their soldiers who was escorting refugees from Matupi Township, as well as placed a barrier between Phanain Village and No.140 Infantry Regiment, where they are active, and prevented them from carrying out operations. Therefore, the Chin State Council warned not to disturb their military operations in the areas, where joint forces of CDF-Matupi Brigade 2, and will continue to occupy No.140 Infantry Regiment and the strategic hill as soon as possible.

Similarly, in the announcement made by the Chin Brotherhood Alliance, they are conducting a military operation called Operation Chin Brotherhood (Operation CB) to capture Cindwe, Tiddim and Matupi towns and they seized Cindwe town, the EPC electricity office and tower camp in Tiddim town On June 17, they  and captured No.304 Light Infantry Regiment in Matupi town. While continuing to attack No.140 Infantry Regiment and the strategic hill, they were suddenly ambushed by the CNF/CNA and its subordinate troops in Chin State.

In the evening of June 17, a CNA member was driving a car towards the No.140 Infantry Regiment, where they were attacking, and was temporarily detained for security purposes. He was interrogated and freed the next morning. However, in the morning before dawn on June 18, the CNA and its subordinate forces launched drones, 40 mm and 60 mm grenade launchers and small arms to attack their forces. Two of their comrades were killed and many were seriously injured. At present, the two sides are fighting fiercely, it said.
