Women's Rights Week to be held in Yangon

A week will be dedicated to celebrating, upholding and raising women’s rights in Myanmar in recognition of the international Women’s Rights Week in Yangon.

The week, due in March, there will be programmes such as a documentary showcase, debates, plays and arts shows. The event will be held from march 4 to 9 at the Institut Français de Birmanie in Yangon.

"We hope that they (women) will freely show their rights. There will be many programmes like documentaries, debates, plays and arts. The detailed programme will be announced later. Please come to this event ," said an official from the Institut Français de Birmanie in Yangon.

Institut français de Birmanie had staged many events regarding movie, music, literature, arts and photography. This time, they has chosen to champion for women's rights. 

Institut français de Birmanie  will also be holding the Yangon Photo festival in this month from February 16 to March 4. It will be the 10th anniversary of the French institute and will include three major exhibitions by renowned photojournalists such as Paula Bronstein, Adam Dean and Alessandro penso.
