Approximately 2,000 Bengali residents living in Buthidaung Township, Rakhine State, took to the streets to protest against the recent attacks by AA insurgents.

The State Administration Council (SAC) information team reported that the AA (Arakan Army) had incited hatred within civilian wards, villages, and townships in the region, leading to violence against Bengali villages in Buthidaung Township.

During the protest, which occurred on May 4, the Bengali victims gathered near No.1 Basic Education High School in Buthidaung.

The rally demonstrated in peaceful manner holding the placards and shouting out the slogans saying: “No need of AA for us;” “Stop immediately the use of Muslims as human shields;” “Stop immediately arson attack on Muslim villages;” and “Stop immediately the act of genocide on Muslims”.

The protesters marched along May Yu Road, Danyawadi Road, and U Ottama Road, converging at the junction of the Clock Tower.
