Unjust affairs won’t be carried out as Myanmar’s policy is based on honesty: Aung San Suu Kyi

Unjust affairs will not be carried out talking nonsense hoping for a short-term solution as Myanmar’s policy is based on honesty, said State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi.

The remarks came from her New Year’s speech of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of International Cooperation. 

New Year gathering and prize presentation ceremony of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of International Cooperation was held at the former’s office on January 14.   

The ability of a diplomat is that he walks to a destination with correct conviction. Honesty is of great importance in the long run.  Unjust affairs will not be carried out talking nonsense hoping for a short-term solution. A straight road is must be long in journey. There may be difficulty. Our measures are meant for future interests not for short-term, said Aung San Suu Kyi.

Diplomatists are the first line of defence, the second defence is development. If diplomatic affairs and development are not enough, military defence must be built up. The staffs of MOFA are to defend the country in front of and they are worthy of pride, said Aung San Suu Kyi.

Their effort, attentiveness, sacrifice and diligence are not as low as those from foreign countries. It is required to continue preserving these traditions, said Aung San Suu Kyi.

The government is seeking ways to create housings for the government staff when they take retirement, said Aung San Suu Kyi.

Present on the occasion were State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Union Minister Kyaw Tin of the Ministry of International Cooperation and wife, the permanent secretary, the director-generators and their wives, the officers, the employees and their families.
